We are pleased to announce that this ONLINE meeting will have Carol Rice as our guest speaker to talk about Office 2010.

 

Carol has her own training company called Essentials Computer Training that specializes in Microsoft Office, accounting and other specialized training solutions to businesses, publicly funded institutions, corporate training centres, community organizations and individuals. As a trainer, she specializes in Excel ~ Outlook ~ PowerPoint ~ Publisher ~ Windows ~ Word ~ Keyboarding ~ GroupWise ~ Simply Accounting ~ QuickBooks.

 

Carol believes in lifelong learning and as such has certified as a Master Microsoft Office Application Specialist. She is an active member of the Computer Trainers Network and the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Her personal time is devoted to family and volunteer organizations such as the

United Way – Burlington’s Amazing Race, Burlington ’s Sound of Music Festival, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Carol will be discussing the following topic:

Transitioning from Office 2003 to Office 2010

Tour some of the new features in Office 2010, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.  The idea is that everyday actions are easier, and that sharing and printing are simpler.

Topics may include:

  • Office 2010 – customizable Ribbon, Backstage view, improved SmartArt Graphics, new file formats, live preview, paste preview, customizable status bar, document cleanup, SkyDrive
  • Excel – limit changes (undo levels, sort levels, grid size), data trends using Sparklines, improved Conditional Formatting, Slicers (filtering) PivotTable and charts, improved filtering, sort by icon, cell/font colour, page layout view
  • Outlook – Conversation view, Ignore feature, instant search, to-do bar, categories, manage multiple e-mail accounts (Hotmail, Gmail) new Calendar views, electronic business card
  • PowerPoint – organize slides with Sections, adding a customized layout, embed and edit photos and video, new transitions
  • Word – screenshots, photo-editing tools, new text effects, building blocks
